Everyone’s a DJ, Everyone’s Got a Podcast — Now So Do I
Launching The Double Helix Podcast: conversations on AI, creativity, and compliance
Podcasting Through Life
Serial was my gateway (Adnan Syed, never forget). The Daily with Michael Barbaro was my NYC commute soundtrack during the fallout of the 2016 election (trying to make it make sense).
Fast-forward to the pandemic: living solo in Austin, I had podcasts in my ears all day. It was how I felt less alone. Now I’m a Pivot fan - Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway basically set the vibe for my Tuesdays and Fridays.
The AI Pod Boom
It should come as no surprise that the AI podcast universe is exploding. I’m always on the search for more (send me your favorites!), but two I really like:
AI for Humans (the sound effects! the banter!)
The AI Readiness Podcast with Anne Murphy and Kyle Shannon

From Panels, To Podcasts: Why Now
I’ve toyed with the idea of podcasting for years. Would I talk about music? Culture? The weird, random stories my sisters and I trade in 10-minute voice memos every week? But now I know exactly what I want to share: The Double Helix podcast takes our panel discussions and puts them straight into your earbuds.
For me, it’s about accessibility. Plenty of people would rather listen than watch, and Substack makes it stupid easy to distribute. So why not sprinkle in some podcasting?
Will it be perfectly regular, scripted episodes? Nope. At least not right now. This is another testing ground for me: interviews, news recaps, experiments. (Send me your ideas!)
What I’m learning—and what I’m trying to take to heart—is that it doesn’t have to be perfect. I’m launching things that feel fun and seeing what sticks. Priorities can shift because it’s my space, and that’s the whole point.
AI Podcast Tools in the Mix
Even AI tools are getting into podcasting. NotebookLM, for example, has a podcast feature that can turn your notes into an audio conversation. Great for studying, brainstorming, or prepping. If you haven’t tried it as a learning tool or braintrust resource, I highly recommend.
My first use case? When I was invited to speak at the Freepik event with just a week’s notice (and zero panel experience), I had to get resourceful. I uploaded my notes into NotebookLM, generated a podcast-style version, and looped it until the ideas stuck. It was like practicing with a co-host—resourceful, not stressful.
It felt like the Helix in action. The tool became both muse and safety net: helping me explore the ideas out loud, while locking in the accuracy I wanted to stand behind.
